I use networkmanager and openvpn to handle my vpn connections and recently I've noticed that whenever I try to connect to it with nmcli con up id name there is about a 10% success rate. As I'm typing this it seems to be closer to a 0% success rate. I'm pretty sure this is not an issue with the vpn server or the openvpn config so that really only leaves NetworkManager.
After timing out it prompts me to use journalctl -xe NM_CONNECTION=xxxx + NM_DEVICE=wlan0' to get more details. This returns the following output:
